Who it is for

Anyone approaching a high-level design round for the first time. If you do not yet know what consistent hashing is for, start here rather than with mock interviews.

How to work through it

  1. 01System Design Fundamentals (14) in order. Sharding, consistent hashing, CAP, load balancing, message queues — this is the vocabulary everything else assumes.
  2. 02System Design Case Studies (10). Watch one, then pause and attempt the next yourself before watching it.
  3. 03Interview Preparation (2) last, once you have designs to hang the advice on.

What it does well

  • 14 videos on fundamentals before any case study. Playlists that open with 'design WhatsApp' teach you one answer; this teaches the components.
  • Explanations of consistent hashing and CAP that have become the reference versions for a reason.
  • 26 videos is finishable in a week alongside other prep.

Where it falls short

  • Older than the other HLD playlists here. The principles hold; specific technologies and scale figures have moved on.
  • 10 case studies is a modest set, and they are explained rather than performed under interview conditions.
  • No low-level design at all — if your round is machine coding, this is the wrong category entirely.

What to pair it with

  • Exponent HLD — 29 full mock interviews — what the round looks like, once you know the components.
  • System design sheet — Work the designs end to end yourself rather than watching more of them.
  • System design write-ups — The same problems in writing, which is easier to revise from the night before.
